Jim Doherty

A seasoned veteran of the foodservice and hospitality industries, Jim Doherty built an impressive career through numerous high-profile executive positions for Acapulco Restaurants, A&W International, and Red Lobster Inns.  He launched his career in 1962 at General Mills Inc., where he was the Marketing Manager and Corporate Ventures Manager.  For 20 years prior to his retirement, Jim was the Publisher and Editor of Nations Restaurant News; often referred to as “the Wall Street Journal for any restaurant owner.” 

Jim is fond of saying “Steak is a reward meal,” and recognizes the American Steak House as an iconic institution.  There is no one better suited to extol the virtues of the American Steak House than Jim Doherty.  We recognize Jim’s extraordinary achievements by presenting him the Legends award from the Steak House Hall of Fame.
